COLLABORATION SANTÉ INTERNATIONALE AND THE TEASDALE-CORTI FOUNDATION
Special guest: Ms Marina Orsini
Dr. Corti spoke with journalists via Skype and telephone directly from the Lacor Hospital, and Ms Nicole Blouin led the conference from CSI's head office in Quebec City.
The conference received press coverage in the following media: an article in Le Soleil, TVA's 6 o'clock news, Radio-Canada's noon-hour news, an article in Québec Hebdo, and an article that will soon appear in the magazine Chefs d’entreprises.
Shipment of the container was made possible by the support of various partners and donors. The Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation and the Group Jean Coutu Inc. referred the Teasdale-Corti Foundation to one of their suppliers, Apotex Inc. The supplier made a significant donation of medicines ($512,577) that met the needs outlined by the Hospital and complied with the Uganda National Drug Authority.
Other large donations of medicines were made by Health Partners International of Canada ($89,311) and Collaboration Santé Internationale, which supplied 10 barrels of medicines ($16,491). CSI, who also provided medical supplies evaluated at $116,320 and hospital equipment worth $81,850 took care of the logistics and coordination of the shipment.
As well as kind words of thanks and encouragement from Marina Orsini, other partners also spoke of their commitment to supporting the Foundation, in a message relayed by video. Among them were Mrs. Marie-Josée Coutu, President of the Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation, and Mr. Elie Betito, Director Public & Government Affairs, Apotex Inc.
Ms Claudia Sighomnou, Director, International Programs, Eastern region, of Health Partners International of Canada was at the meeting, along with Mr. Filippo Campo, Executive Director of the Teasdale-Corti Foundation.
For more than 40 years, CSI has been sending medicines, equipment, medical supplies and educational materials to developing countries. CSI benefits from the aid program provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur du Québec.
